RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Catechesis of The Good Shepherd Level I introduces young children to the love of God through hands-on materials, Scripture, and prayer. The focus is on helping the child develop a personal relationship with Jesus, the Good Shepherd, while fostering wonder, joy, and a sense of belonging to God's family. Children explore foundational themes such as the Good Shepherd, the Kingdom of God, and the liturgy in a peaceful, prepared environment called the atrium.

Catechesis of The Good Shepherd Level II builds on the child's growing capacity for reflection and reasoning. Children explore the history of God's plan of salvation, the moral teachings of Jesus, and the sacraments in greater depth. Through Scripture, liturgical work, and independent exploration, they begin to recognize their unique role in God's Kingdom and their responsibility to respond to God's love.

Catechesis of The Good Shepherd Level III invites older children to deepen their understanding of God's ongoing covenant with humanity and their place within the larger Christian community. They examine salvation history, the prophets, the structure and mission of the Church, and the call to live as disciples of Christ. This level encourages thoughtful reflection, personal responsibility, and a commitment to living out the Gospel through service, prayer, and participation in the life of the Church.

This class will focus on the children developing a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and learning the articles of the Catholic faith as found in the Creed, all with the goal of preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

For those who have already been confirmed, this class will be adding "layer upon layer" of our Catholic Faith!

We will be utilizing the texts 'Preparation for Confirmation According to the Baltimore Catechism' and 'The New Saint Joseph Baltimore Catechism No 2.'
